Aside from Grandma Schneider passing away, the stomach virus that took the entire family by storm, getting a couple cavities filled and an upper respiratory infection that took over where the stomach virus left off, our Chistmas visit to Cincinnati was filled with Comfort and Joy. Emily, Big Den and I were so sick that we couldn't even make it to the funeral and the rest of the aforementioned misery is pretty much self-explanatory. There were some high points including sparsely attended Chistmas celebrations, poker night with the guys and a Vertical Tasting of Stone's Vertical Epic '03-'09. By the time my departure was lurking around the corner, I've got to be honest, I wasn't sad to leave for warmer, healthier climes. I"ll throw a couple of nice pictures on here for good measure, but truthfully, I'd like to forget most of the rest. If I wanted an appropriate representation of the trip I'd post a picture of a family member squatting on the toilet with a bottle of Gatorade outside the door.
Due to everyone's gastrointestinal issues, Maddie's birthday was postponed until the last day of my visit to Cincinnati, the girls stayed an few extra days. Despite the other difficulties of the past couple weeks, the day was hectic, but successful. Maddie had a great time running around with her friends and cousins, but wasn't so sure about the singing and blowing out candles. I'm sure that'll come with time.
